Who are the SOB's?
All you have to do is appreciate good beer. Whether you make it or drink it, it makes no difference to us. And just who are we?
We are the Society of Oshkosh Brewers, a group of people from all walks of life, dedicated to the art of making and drinking good beer. Established in 1991, the SOBs are based in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and have members throughout northeastern Wisconsin, and beyond. Club meetings are held monthly, and run the gamut from sampling a new beer from a far-off brewery, to inviting a master brewer to discuss their day at the office. We also learn about kegging, hops, grains, and many other unique facts and tips about the wondrous world of beer.
The club organizes brewery tours and trips to beer events like the Real Ale Fest in Chicago. We also host and help with various local brewfests, like the Brews and Brews Festival, held next to the river in Oshkosh every July to benefit the local Jaycees organization.
We invite you to attend one of our monthly meetings, just to find out how easy it is to make really good beer. And meet a great bunch of people besides. Meetings are generally held the third Wednesday of every month, at Peabody's Ale House in Oshkosh, beginning at 7:00 p.m. Club members often host meetings, so actual dates, times and location can vary.
Come see what it's all about. There's no obligation. And don't feel like you have to bring beer. You'll want to start doing that after you make your first batch.
